Introduction

The aim of this blog is to examine the information systems used by the Kean's recreation department, a college recreational industry. Team 2 will focus on the business strategy and how their information systems help them achieve their daily goals.


Kean Recreation

Kean University Intramurals and Recreation presents a competitive and entertaining way to stay active on campus for students, staff, and faculty. These departments are determined to involve as many students as possible by providing various activities to take part of.


The Recreation Department provides an array of classes offered throughout the week along with their fitness center facilities which include the following: indoor track, weight room, arena, fitness center and pool. Life fitness and Hammer strength machinery, a stereo system with surround sound and three plasma televisions are appointed at the D'Angola weight room. Moreover, the cardio equipment is installed with iPhone chargers and cable-ready television screens.

Intramurals offers all Kean University students the opportunity to participate in sports no matter what experience they acquire. A number of sports are offered such as volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, flag football, softball, and indoor soccer.



Mission Statement:
"Kean University Recreation & Intramural Department promotes clean & safe athletic facilities including Harwood Arena, D'Angola Gymnasium, Carol Hynes Field House, Alumni Stadium, & East Campus Fitness Center. We also provide an environment that promotes mental, physical, & social wellness. Our main priority is to provide free fitness classes as well as intramurals to students, faculty, & staff. We want the Kean community to receive the best recreational experience possible."

Interviewee


We will be interviewing the Assistant Director of Recreation, Intramurals and Event management; also known as Jay Sgaramella. Jay reconstructed the intramural and recreation program on campus to serve the needs of the student body after spending a season in 2003 as an assistant football coach. With the opening of Harwood Arena and improvements to D'Angola Gymnasium, he has developed and advanced a variety of programs for students and staff, while also administering the student workers for the athletic and recreation department.
